Restrict getting Credit at an address.
Hi. Not sure which forum is best to post my thread on so will put it on this one and see the results that i get.
I am thinking of getting in a tenant on the property i live in. Can anyone advise how i can stop and make sure that this tenant does not apply for credit cards, loans etc under my address and then just do a runner leaving me to deal with bailifss etc.
I know of a couple of people this has happened to and don't really want the hassle. Perhaps someone can advise me of the best way i can stop someone taking out credit in my address. Is there a way i can be notified of application under my address when applications get filed.
Any comments and assistance appreciated.
Thanks

Oops, hit the wrong button, was going to reply *doh* I beleive you can't do this from a discussion I had with CreditExpert."There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

No you can't do this. If you are living somewhere then you are living there and you have a right to a life. This includes using the address as your place of residence and giving your landlords name as a reference when applying for jobs, benefits, etc. All you can do is get the best references you can get when they move in. (and people wearing nicotine patches are not non smokers).
I have been on the recieving end of this. I needed accomodation for 10 weeks once and the lease was a preprinted one bought from a stationers and a separate sheet that looked like a comedy sketch. One was "Further agree's not to apply for credit at the address above". CAB told me this was unenforcable, as were 99% of the other clauses. Stuff about footing the bill for cleaning out the flush tray on the washing machine if I let it build up, no deliveries on a weekend, no wheeling push bikes across the lawn. You wouldn't believe all that was on there.
