I bought a Z10 from Boots back in the summer and have had problems with the connection cable to the pC not working on occasions, a techie friend says it looks like a loose connection in the camera.
I took it back to Boots today and they can't replace it as it is discontinued and although they are happy to give me a points refund I am loath to lose the camera as I'm really happy with the print quality.
So want I really want is either aZ10 from somewhere else at a reasobale price, or else a similair camera that will fit the padded bag I bought for the Z10 (it is an akward shape) and also take the same SD cards.
Can any one offer any suggestions?

Have you tried contacting minolta direct? They may be able to fix it.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Soo, this may be a daft solution but...
Buy a card reader (under a tenner for most cards and definitely for SD card readers).
Looking on steves digicams, I can't see much in the way of camera control that you do through the cable. If all you're doing is transfering pics then use a reader.
Just a thought...

Soo - agree with evilmonkey - see here - £4 delivered.
Ps - we also have the Z10 from boots brilliant camera - wouldn't want to swop it - never used the cable - always just pop it in the card reader above. Alos, if you are needing an extra card ebuyer have some deals on card & card reader.. I bought 2 x 512's from there - they hold about 700 pics on this camera!HLK

Thank you for your ideas, I'm going to check out the card reader now. That would seem like a real solution for me as I can't give up this camera it is so much better than the ones I bought previously even though one of them, a Fuji was over twice the price.
I do only use the cable for downloading images, so if I can get this all to work it will have solved my problem.
Thank you

Yes I have a standard warranty and Boots even offered me a full points refund (I paid with points).
I did get one email back from Minolta but it was a bit confusing and it appeared to say that I needed to take it back to the place of purchase, or if outside of warrnaty (which it is not) to take it to an authorised Minolta agent in the UK where I could pay for a quote to get it repaired.
Trouble is I really don't want to give up this camera and since extensive research shown it is no longer made I can't get a replacement.
I've ordered a card reader now which has cost me £4 including p and p which seems like a very cheap solution to my problem.

I would of phoned Minolta direct and told them you are being passed from pillar to post and they should take responsibillity for a defective camera..
Well thats what I would of done... :beer:0 -
Soo, its a doddle (especially of you're on something like XP which has built in drivers for card readers)
Plug in the reader, plug in the card, appears as a drive and there are your pics.....
Good luck
