Help me clean my baking tray, please

My baking tray is all full of baked on stains that since i gave it a good scrub a few weeks ago has started to peel off :o . Now normally i`d throw it away but its a good size and still a lot of life left in it.At the moment i`ve got it soaking in hot water with soda crystals and keep scrubbing it with a wire scrub.
Its going to take me ages so is there an easier way that anyone knows about? thanks :o

  • Can't offer cleaning tips I'm afraid, I always cover mine with aluminium foil. Not very OS I know, but I buy the cheap rolls and they seem to last for months.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

The best way I know to clean a well used baking tray is to put it in an airtight plastic bag with some ammonia. You'll have to leave it a while, at least overnight, sometimes longer, but when you take it out the baked on stuff will have become soft and just fall away.

I am a bit scared of the ammonia! I would try either:
Fairy power spray OR (before that if you don't happen to have any)
washing powder and hot water and leave to soak. If you do the washing powder thing after each use it always works, even on burnt on food and grease. I haven't tried it with old stains though, but worth a try! Another possibility is oven cleaner, as long as it does not specify not to use for baking trays etc.
