On 22/04/2007 i ordered a pair of "TNF Hedgehog GTX XCR" trail shoes ... Amonggst the specification of these shoes & my main reason for buying, is they are described as WATERPROOF. They are designed for trail walking & light hiking. I've only ever worn the odd day fishing on the river so nothing very brutal (far from it). Found out today that one of the shoes has started to let water in. I'm very dissapointed with this as genuinely had little wear since i've had
I bought these online from "Blacks" & i still have receipt. Though i assume the garuantee is normally 12months i'm pretty sure i read or heard somewhere that consumers have rights beyond this. I can only find info & examples on electrical goods online. Is it worth me persueing this, have i leg to stand on .. if so is there any letter/email templates available to aid my complaint..... or, should i just move on & put down to experience

Any advice appreciated please

Legally you probably couldn't do a lot after 16 months with a pair of shoes, but maybe the shop will make you a goodwill offer

Waterproofing can perish if incorrectly stored.
Don't think there is any legal obligation to refund, but you can ask.Always another chapter0 -
Ok thanks for responses0

Can you not re waterproof the shoes ? I have never had a pair of walking boots yet that didn't have a certain amount of seepage after a while and after a hard days walking in wet weather although sweat can also give the feet a damp feel."The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

Gore-tex liners in footwear don't last long... doing very well if you get them to last 12 months (especially in fairly fragile approach shoes) . I am sure The North Face won't be interested in shoes out of their warranty period. Put it down to experience and buy some wellies if you really want to keep your feet dry!
