I need some advice regarding Assent Link (No1) Ltd and my bankruptcy.
It appears that Assent link have taken over a debt from one of my old creditors and recently sent me a letter advising me that interest is still accruing on the account and despite the fact that i have been made bankrupt, they tell me that interest is still accruing on the account.
They go on to 'urge' me to contact them 'as failure to do so could result in further action being taken against you for which you may incur additional costs'.
Is this situation right? Can they take me to court to make me pay? Do i still owe money on this debt or is this simply Asset Link trying to bully me into paying money for a debt that i no longer am liable for?
At the time of the bankruptcy, i was married, though estranged from my partner. Does this mean that the debt still exists and that i have to pay it or can Link Assent force my ex-wife to pay for the loan?
This whole situation takes me back to a black, horrible time in my life i was happy to see put behind and will appreciate any help anyone can give me to settle this.

There are a few types of debt (such as student loans, fines, CSA arrears etc) that are not discharged by your bankruptcy.
Assuming that this debt does not fall into one of those very limited exceptions, then your liability for the debt ended with your bankruptcy.
They should not be making demands for payment from you, and they cannot pursue the matter through the courts.
Your best bet is to send them a copy of your bankruptcy order by registered/recorded post, and instruct them that they are only now permitted to deal with your Official Receiver/trustee. Any further contact from them will be treated as harassment.
You should also inform you former OR/trustee that you have been contacted, and forward the request from Asset Link to them.
It would be a good idea to make sure that all your former debts from your bankruptcy are correctly marked as settled on your Credit Reference Files. That should help prevent other debts being sold on (in theory).
There is a thread on the MSE Bankruptcy & Living With It board that will help you do this.
