Eukanuba dog food - where can I get some cheaply?

Hi folks - this is my first post so hope it is in the right place. I am trying to source Eukanuba dog food at a reasonable price. The cheapest source I have found for a 15Kg Adult Large Breed Maintenance is £30.90 at http://www.zooplus.co.uk with free delivery. 10% off first order if you sign up for free newsletter. (Most expensive was £41 from a local pet shop).
Do you have any suggestions? I have asked a friend to check out Costco - I am not a member and they won't tell me if they stock it or not.
I would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks

have you thought of changing brands at all? I have mine on something called
"pero gold" from local pet store its £16.00 for the same size sack. My dogs are doing well on it. Just an idea0 -
Hi, do not know if this helps, but we changed our cat food to Costco's brand - Kirkland, of dried cat food, now the cats would not comtemplate anything else. it has over the years saved us the cost of membership many times over! our friends have tried their doggy brand, and they now have converted, but they do do the "E" brand
hope this helps

Hi there,
As you can see by my user name I like my dogs, especially Border Collies!!!
So what I feed my dogs is very, very important to me.
I must confess if I hadn't looked into what I feed my dogs, the glitz and glamour of IAMS/Eukanuba advertising would convince me it the best thing to feed my pups.
But just a little searching online will let you see it's not.
Not only charging very expensive prices for a very average dog food, but also morally, for the company stance on animal experimentation.

You can feed your dogs just as well with Skinners dog food for half the price(and naturally preserved).http://www.skinnerspetfoods.co.uk/
Or if you want the best, Burns dog food is really the Rolls Royce, same price as Eukanuba, but far far superior food.If I didn't have 6 collies it's what I would feed.http://www.burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk/
As long you as you ensure the food has no "EC approved additives",this means we won't feed it to humans as it causes cancer, but dogs are OK. These additives are specifically preservatives called ,Ethoxyquin, Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT).

I could go on for ever about this topic but I won't.2011 Wins - Dave Gorman Tickets :j Sony Bravia TV :beer:0 -
Hello from a "mother" of two border collies!
The pup in my avatar was on Eukanuba when I bought him and the breeder insisted he must stay on that for his whole life. I found the price far too expensive. At the moment he's on Bakers dried puppy food which he loves, and it's not done him any harm. He's never been ill, has a lovely glossy coat and is full of beans!
My other collie is 10 years old and eats Pal dried food. She manages fine on that. She is also very healthy and manages to keep up with the pup when they run round on the field.
Thanks for the link for the Skinners food. That looks worth investigating though. Here I go again on my own....0 -
I recently changed my cats food to Burns after reading about what goes on at Proctor and Gamble who make Eukanuba and Iams. http://www.iamscruelty.com/
Burns are more than happy to supply samples if you phone or mail them, they also have a free pets health helpline. Delivery of there food is free for orders of 7.5 Kg.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Just another wee note about what to look for in dog food.
Always ensure the food is preserved with vitamin E(alpha tocopheryl)
Most corporate dog foods are preserved with the additives I mentioned in my previous post. They use these as they greatly increase the shelf live of their product and so increase their profits!!!!!
Companies such as Burns and Skinners only use vitamin E to preserve their dog food, which gives their foods a shorter shelf live.
Just another wee note regarding Burns and Skinners, I greatly respect Burns as a dog food but the costs makes it very very expensive for me with 6 Border Collies.I know for a fact that up until several years ago Skinners produced Burns dog food for them.
Another wee note for any "pack" owners, Skinners give a free dog food trial of a 15kg bag of their food to anyone with 6 or more dogs.2011 Wins - Dave Gorman Tickets :j Sony Bravia TV :beer:0 -
Thanks to all of you for your responses. You are all quite right to challenge the basis of my brand loyalty - (I have just finished that bit in Martin's book). My loyalty has so far been based on some vague perception that Eukanuba was the best and not on any research
. In dog years I will have given them 42 years of loyalty  I will check out the other brands you have all suggested and get better informed. Cheers folks
