Miracle ideas needed to dry washing !!

Our washing machine has given up the ghost and until we can buy a replacement I'm hoping somebody can suggest a way of speeding up the drying of heavy dripping wet objects like thick sweaters and towels. It's really speeding up the process of removing the last dripping trickles I'm after. Once they've reached that stage I can drape them over the radiator in the bathroom or hang fthem rom my little retractable line over the bath. It's the first stage of removing the soggy drips that is defeating me ! (and the constant wet weather isn't helping).

Lay them on towels for a bit? I know that's making more wet things, but it does stop them being wringing/dripping wet.

Best I can think of at the mo :o
    TOP MONEYSAVING TIP

Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!

When I'm handwashing, after everything is rinsed & wrung out, I lie it on a large towel. Then top with another large towel, & stamp on it. :D

You now also have two large towels to dry, but they won't drip.

Try asking on Freecycle for a spin dryer....little cyclinder with a spout for the water to come gushing out as it dances around the kitchen floor :D
Or look in the ads in the local paper, it may cost you a few quid, but it will really help. Mine used to get clothes dryer than my washer.
Or....try E-bay, you may find a cheapie one local to you.

  • wash it in the bath, drain the bath then stomp on it folding over and refolding till its drained.
  • Roll it in a towel and stamp on it!

Where in the country are you primrose? I keep a spin dryer 'just in case' and I bet loads of other people do. Maybe someone could lend you one if freecycle doesn't do the business.

Come to think of it, if you're close enough to me I have a washing machine you could have?!
