Lloyds harassment has started again

A few months ago, I was getting on average 15 phone calls a day from Lloyds TSB about overdraft. I did not answer most of them as they were generally ringing while in work, and did not want to speak in an open plan office. I told them to communicate only in writing, as at the time I was talking to CCCS. Each time I was told that they would continue ringing until I spoke to them. After I signed for DMP I told the first person who rang, that they had to write so that I could pass the letters on, they still kept ringing so I sent a harassment letter that I got from National Debtline.

The calls stopped.

I have now had a letter saying

"I understand that you want these calls to stop. In order for us to agree to this you must call our Collections Team on 0870xxxxxxxx. They will be able to discuss an affordable repayment plan......"

And guess what..

today the calls started again. And I told the first caller, I cannot agree a repayment plan with you, you should have heard from them by now, I cannot treat you any different from other creditors, don't ring me. They said that until i agree something with them on the phone, they will keep ringing me.

Today I have had 4 calls, not including the first one. I have ignored them all.

What else can I do? They have not upheld my complaint, so I suppose I can take it further.

Any advice?

  • we had this with our creditors including lloyds we just changed our phone number (as we changed providers cos sky were cheaper than virgin ) and we havent had 1 call since that was 3 months ago its great ! paula x
  • Wish I could do that, but unfortunately they don't have home number since I changed it so they ring on my mobile and on my work number. Mobile has a clever setting where you put people in groups and can set it so it only rings for certain groups, so it doesn't actually ring, it goes to answerphone, but its annoying. Work is harder because colleagues sometimes pick up the call if it goes more than 3 rings.

  • Hi there,
I've read somewhere I'm sure, that in line with the Data protection act you can write to the company and request that they delete your phone number and only communicate with you in writing. I'm sure it was on this website somewhere. I'll see if I can find a link.

  • They say they have a duty to keep contacting me until I respond to them. The fact that they are receiving payments, however small, from CCCS seems to be escaping their notice!
