If its any help. I've been getting Gallia (sp?) melons from Stony Stratford market, at 2 for £1, and they've been really lovely, sweet and juicy. The Cantaloupe I tried recently wasn't anywhere near as nice.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Hiya,
I think the juiciest melons around at the moment are Galia. You can get one in Sainsburys for £1.00. Try mixing it with fresh pineapple and grapes. It makes a lovely sweet dessert or breakfast with yoghurt. Lidl usually have cheap melons , grapes and sometimes pineapples too.
Hope this helps.

I bought some Galia melon recently. It was obviously not ripe, so I left it in the fruit bowl and after about 2 weeks  It was delisious and juicy

I always pick Gallia melon up and smell them before I buy. If they're ripe they smell gorgeous! Even better with slivers of preserved ginger, mmmmm.
Honeydew can be lovely, I always go for the deep yellow ones, I think they're riper.
Either way, they never last long in this house!!:wave:0
