First Direct 10 year fixed withdrawn

Looks like FD have pulled their 10 year rate - http://www.firstdirect.com/mortgages/rates.shtml.

To all those like myself who took the 6.19% deal and were considering dropping down to the 5.95% deal, looks like the decision's been made for us!

Thanks for the info, but I'm not sure it that's clear cut.
You can't switch to another 10 year but you can change to a 5-year or tracker.
All depends on what you want I guess.

I'm still undecided between fixed and tracker.

You are absolutely right about how quickly sentiment changes though.
Only a couple of months ago rates were being withdrawn and going up and things were getting scary.

I just rang them to ask them about it and as I suspected it was withdrawn due to it being very popular and funding being used up. They're unlikely to have another available for a month or two now.

When I spoke about switching I was meaning from the previous 10 year rate to the current one. Obviously the implications are different for those looking to change the type/term of their deal.

I would not be surprised if it gets repriced lower going by the 10 year swap rate there is plenty of room for it.
