Hi need abit of advice
Basically i got a ccj put on my name through no fault of my own, it was because of a car accident i had 4 years ago and my insurance company didnt settle with the third party and then recently i recieved court letters saying i owe this money.. which i forwarded to my insurance company who assured me they would sort this out .. i continued recieving these letters and kept forwarding them to my insurance company who assured me they were sorting it... Anyway i eventually got a letter from court saying i have had a ccj put on my name. Now my insurance company say they have sorted it out and will apply to the court who will either issue me with a certificate of cancellation or certificate of satisfaction..
Now then rant over... will both these certificates satisfy any possible future lenders or am stuck.
iM p****ED off as non of this is my fault, but at the moment i need to concentrate on sorting this out..
Any advice is appreciated
Thanks

Try not to let the anger stop you sorting this out. Rise above it.

I'm no expert but as long as your insurance company pull their finger out of their !!!!!! and do what they said there shouldn't be any problems.

Unfortunately a CCJ whether paid or not remains on your credit file for 6 years. After this period it drops off. The only exception to this is if you paid the debt in full within 28 days of the court making the Judgment against you. In this scenario, the CCJ is not registered.
If the County Court Judgment has been issued incorrectly or in error then you can apply to the court to have it "set aside". This will provide you with a certificate showing that the CCJ has been issued in error. This may apply to you as it seems to be the fault of the Insurance Company it was issued in the first place. Also you should have had written notification that the case had been taken to court, and been given ample opportunity to pay the debt before a Judgment be placed against you. This only happens once the case has actually been heard in court. If this proceedure was not followed by the claimant you could also have legal recourse to have the Judgment set aside.
When underwriting your application, lenders will consult credit reference agencies such as experian & equifax to obtain details of your past financial history. They will also use a system called credit score which shows details of all your past and current credit applications and their conduct for the last 6 years.
This also applies to mobile phone contracts, some insurance providers, catalogues, tennancy agreements, mortgages etc:
Dependant upon the size and circumstances surrounding the Judgment, it could have a varying effect upon applications you make.
Don't feel down about it though, 1 in 3 people have some form of County Court Judgment or Default on their credit record.
Apologies if this doen't seem to offer a cheerful answer, but I always believe in being honest rather than diplomatic.
Hope this helps
