MBNA reclaim probs

Options
Hi there
Hopeing someone can help/offer advice.
I sent a letter to MBNA last month to recalim two years worth of PPI that I believe I was mis-sold. I have been insulin dependant diabetic for over 12 years and their policy does not cover existing medical conditions - therefore would have been useless to me anyway.
Their reply was that I had not been mis-sold, that their sales advisors are highly trained and stick to a rigorous criteria when offering the PPI and that I also had a 30 day cooling off period to cancel two years ago if I had wanted to. Apparently it is my fault for not reading their policy booklet thoroughly and deciding if the policy was suitable for me. They have refunded last months premium of £33 back into my credit card account as I had requested in my letter that the PPI be cancelled immediately also.
Their closing of their letter stated "We will not answer any more of your enquiries regarding this matter and deem it to be final" - which has really peed me off as I have been a customer of theirs for years and years!
I do believe that I was mis-sold this PPI of two years - if I had been asked about ongoing illnesses or even seen it in the booklet I certainly would not have paid a further £25 - £45 per month for it!
Any ideas as to what I should do next? They are stating that it is my fault for not checking the wording of the policy - which I suppose it is - but who are the apparent experts here?
They did enclose a leaflet about the financial ombudsman and wonder if this is the route I should take now. What are the chances of MBNA paying up or am I wasting my time and better to move my money away from them now?
Many thanks
K
