I had this situation a couple of years ago where I'd bought into a 2 year fixed rate of 4.49% with Halifax. A week before we were due to complete they reduced it to 4.39% so I phoned them and asked if I could have that one instead. They instantly said 'yes' and issued new offers to myself and a copy to the solicitor. If you don't ask, you don't get.
Now, of course, I'd jump at 4.49%!
