Have you sent a formal letter of complaint to Egg? - if so the debt is in dispute and DLC can not chase you for it.
If Egg have not sold the debt, they can recall from DLC and manage it themselves.I am a debt counsellor working in the voluntary sector - we don't charge our clients for the work we do!0 -
A DCA had my Egg account last year. I basically sent lots of letters to keep everyone busy!
I sent a CCA request to the DCA (what they sent back appeared to be appeared to be compliant).
My main intention was to get rid of the DCA and to deal with Egg directly.
I began making payments directly to my Egg account using online banking.
I sent a subject access request to Egg (with the help of FOS i eventually had £300 refunded BY CHEQUE).
I wrote to the DCA to state that the account was in dispute as i was awaiting clarification from Egg with regards to the outstanding balance.
I then wrote to Egg complaining about the continued threats and harrassment from the DCA. I reminded them that in accordance with OFT guidelines they were responsible for the actions of any 3rd party. I stated i had no intentions of avoiding my debt and that i was willing to make repayments of xx amount per month. I told them as a sign of my willingness to resolve the issue i had already repaid xx amount.
Egg never answered my letter directly, but they re-allowed me access to my account online and set a lower monthly payment than i'd offered, which i now pay by direct debit. I never heard from the DCA again.
I actually think the DCA could have been DLC - i can't remember as it was passed around a couple of times prior to me dealing with it
They have no right to come to your house and are probably only bluffing. They are not bailiffs, they are debt collectors and have no powers. There is legislation related to visitors and not being invited to a property which i will find over the weekend. One step at a time0
