frugal_rock wrote: »Nothing today, but there is an advert for free DVDs. Starting on Sunday there is a free Alfred Hitchcock DVD every day until the following Saturday. Tokens redeemable at WH Smith.
From The Times website:
Build a collection of classic movies from the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, starting with a free DVD – The 39 Steps – inside The Sunday Times on September 7, 2008.
You can add another title to your collection each day by picking up a free DVD from Monday to Friday at WHSmith, then complete the set with The Lady Vanishes, free inside The Times on Saturday, September 13.
Sunday - The 39 Steps
An innocent man on the run. A beautiful, icy blonde. A chaotic world in which no one is what they seem. Deservedly one of the BFI’s Top Five Favourite British Films.
Monday - The Man Who Knew Too Much
A dying man reveals an assassination plot, a child is abducted, and a man must choose between his family and his country. The Albert Hall provides a fitting setting for a thrilling climax.
Tuesday - Sabotage
One of cinema's most famous and brilliantly executed sequences sees an innocent boy unwittingly delivering a timed bomb on a bus that is stuck in traffic. Hitchcock at his very best.
Wednesday - The Secret Agent
Somerset Maugham’s spy story receives the Hitchcock treatment with a mix of ironic humour and suspenseful set pieces. A novelist has his death faked by British Intelligence, before embarking on a perilous and eccentric mission.
Thursday - Young and Innocent
A stylish thriller with a simple premise: a man finds the body of a young girl and runs to get help. Two young witnesses take him for the killer, and he faces a fight to prove his innocence.
Friday - Jamaica Inn
A superbly atmospheric tale of thieves and cutthroats set on the rugged Cornish coast. An orphan girl goes to live with her uncle, but discovers that he is the head of a gang of bloodthirsty wreckers.
Saturday - The Lady Vanishes
Aboard a trans-continental express, a young woman befriends an English governess who promptly disappears. Seeking an explanation, she is accused of hallucinating, but the more questions she asks, the deeper the mystery becomes.0 -

Also noticed adverts in WH Smiths for free 80s music CDs with the Daily Mail, starting on Saturday 5th September.
As always the "Free Giveaway CDs and DVDs" thread on the Grabbit forum has extended details of these in the latter few posts on the last page.

Thanks.
Can someone please explain why 19 people have sadly thanked the poster of the above post.....makes a bit of a mockery of the "thanking process"...does it not..
I can understand the thanking of "yes there are mocs", or "no theres not".......but this seems a bit cheap.Couponing....."every little hurts"

But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Dare we ask what "value" they might hold ?
How many do you need ?
Do they need to bear different dates ?

Thanks.
Just added this to yesterday's thread in response to your similar post there
Weekday newspaper pricing details:
NOTE PRICE INCREASE ** PLUS 10p **
Sun 30p / Star 35p / Mirror 40p / Express 40p / Mail 50p
** Times 80p ** / Independent 80p / Telegraph 80p / Guardian 80pSunny_Saver wrote: »I think it's a cheek... prices are increased and NO MOCs!
..................
Then you'd better BRACE YOURSELF !!!!!!
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH (Saturday edition) from 6th September ..... +10p to £1.60
THE GUARDIAN (Saturday edition) from 6th September ..... +10p to £1.60
THE DAILY TELEGRAPH (Monday to Friday editions) from 8th September ..... +10p to 90 pence
... and there is an unconfirmed conflicting report that the Saturday edition of The Times is also +10p to £1.50
(despite The Times saying it would stay at £1.40 only a week ago when announcing the weekday editions increase to 80p)
Maybe this is a reaction to the news that both the Telegraph and Guardian going up, such that The Times can add 10p and STILL be 10p cheaper than its rivals !There are 10 types of people in the world. ‹(•¿•)›(11)A104.28S94.98O112.46N86.73D101.02(12)J130.63F126.76M134.38A200.98M156.30J95.56J102.85A175.93
