Limitations act

Hi,
i stupidly took out a loan many years ago (1997) and and could not afford to carry on repayments. the debt accrued to over £11000. I've moved many times and had no contact from any collection agencies for well over 6 years until about a year ago. I told them i did not acknowledge the debt and have heard nothing since(i'm assuming they were fishing). The problem i have now is improving my credit rating. if i obtain my credit report and link my address with previous addresses is it likely that this will be passed on and the cycle will start again and i'll be chased once more? I'm not aware of any ccj's against me but can the debt be chased still if there is?
Regards

Hello Terry, and welcome to the forum :hello:
There's every chance you could be chased from now until doomsday, it all depends who this debt ends up with, but if you're certain you're covered by the limitations act, you have nothing to worry about.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -

if anyone comes back, send them a statute barred letter and insist that they remove your details from their records.
That prevents them selling the debt on or gives you leverage to report them to the Information Commisioner if they do so.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
