playstation 2 accessories

I have managed to get my son a new slimline PS2 for Christmas and now need to find some accessories. I am looking for an analogue controller and a multi tap but understand that the muti tap at least needs to be specially designed for the new PS2 as the ones designed for the original PS2 won't fit.

Any suggestions as to places to look for these items? Amazon looks expensive and Game seem to have no stock on anything at all. I am currently looking at ebay but am nervous at buying something in case I get the wrong thing.

You're right that the old multitaps won't fit the new PS2. The new multitaps are quite difficult to get hold of and are not very cheap. HMV have them in for £30, as it's near Christmas I doubt anyone is likely to drop the price.

The official name for them is Multitap: Slimline K Chassis.

Controllers can be gotten anywhere (e.g. Argos) and range from about £10 for unofficial ones to £20 for the Sony ones.

I got mine from Boots but in the first 'wave' before they started offering triple points. I paid £107 after using a discount code and it came with a free game and 1 controller plus something like 479 boots points.

When the boots triple points deal came along I considered cancelling and re ordering but am glad I stuck as it looks like a number of people didn't get theirs that were ordered later.

  • I know a place where they are selling the new one for £105. Anyone else know places where they are selling them and have them in stock?

Hi Poppy, I don't really know what I am buying either! My son has told me that the multi tap plugs into the PS2 and enables 4 controllers to be used so he can game with his friends. I have found out that multi taps sold for the old style pS2 won't fit the new slimline PS2 so I am still looking.

I did get an analogue PS2 controller in Asda today for £7 and just hope I got the right one.

To clarify, the PS2 has 2 controller ports, so 2 people can play at once.

The multitap is an accessory which doubles the number of controller ports from 2 to 4, i.e. you can have 4 people playing on the PS2 at once.

For example, there is a Basketball game which allows 4 players at once.

You don't need a multitap for the PS2 to work, it already has 2 controller ports.
