I can't help with the tithing side of things but thought I'd comment on donations while on a DMP with the CCCS.

I used to give £30 a month to two charities by direct debit. When sorting out where to cut back, I cancelled one but kept the other (for £18) - and I entered this against "Charity/Church" on the CCCS' online debt remedy, which was then the basis of my DMP.

All creditors accepted my DMP, though one did want more details about a couple of amounts, and this donation was one of them. The creditor said they would require this to be stopped.

When I had a telephone review with the CCCS a couple of months ago, we rejigged a few amounts. We reduced the charity donation to £2. I'm still paying the £18 a month but this is my choice to use some of my allowances (e.g. from food) or use anything I make from selling stuff.

The CCCS sets "maximums" for each type of expenditure. I'm not sure whether there is an accepted maximum for charitable donations but it's probably very small.

    Hope that helps

Thank you all for the feedback.....just to clarify that my church isnt dependent on my tithe and dont force me to tithe...it is however in scripture....Malachi 3:10, Deuteronomy 26:12-1 and some additional scriptures 2 Chronicles 31:5; Nehemiah 12:44; Genesis 14:17-20; Leviticus 27:20; Matthew 23:23..just a few for back up....lol

No but seriously we give 10% of our money not because we are told to by our pastor etc...but out of faith....

    thanx again
Umm my best mate at school was a hindu - their culture has something similar but his family reasoned all the scripture stuff was laid down in a culture without social security and social taxation - his dad reasoned the 40% effective taxation covered that but the principle was of contributing to society and he had to spend 10% of a working week doing voluntary work as his dad argued western society valued money over time and he'd learn more spending 4 hours a week helping in an old folks day centre and probably a more valuable commodity
