Has anyone ordered this dress from Landy?

Hi peeps!!

i love this dress on the Landy website (sorry, cant do links lol!!)
http://www.landybridal.com/Product/Pro182.Html

but am concerned it wont be as pretty as this in real life - Landy seem to do their own one as well (or is this their version!?!)
http://www.landybridal.com/Product/Pro2247.html
and i dont really like it, and then i have just seen someone selling one on ebay (it looks like they are just a private seller - maybe bought it off landy)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-wedding-dress-size-12-red-and-white_W0QQitemZ280262455000QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280262455000&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
and i really dont like the look of it!! so just wondering if anyone out there has already bought it, or has any ideas about where i could get a nice (and cheap) dress similair? i have also seen a nice one on Milly, but love the fact that this one has red in it!!

oh decisions decision!!

Try looking in the bridal shops now because they all have sales on as they are clearing the decks for new stock.

    Hi,

I love the dress in the first link - it is gorgeous!!! Especially the veil.

But the link for the dress by the private seller on ebay looks really pants!! From what I can see on the pictures, she is not wearing a petticoat with hoop as the dress is not "puffed out", and I wouldn't say that the dress is a "perfect fit" for the model in the pics, it doesn't look like it sits right :o

I'm not keen on the sceond link either.

Definitely like the first one, the Maggie copy. A lot of people on here have success with their Landy dresses, and as the price is so cheap, it is worth trying. I am hopefully getting my BM dresses from Landy, I'm just waiting for the material and colour samples to arrive before I decide.

thanks for your replies guys!! :D

im scared that if i see the real dress in a bridal shop i will have to have it!! also i cant really be bothered looking in bridal shops (im so lazy lol!!) and loved the fact that Landy and Milly are so cheap! plus im not getting married until next september and am hoping to lose weight by then - and again i dont really think i could be bothered with the hassle of having to get it altered - im trying to do the lazy brides wedding lol!! :D

theres been so many good reviews about Landy & Milly on this site that i was really confident about buying the dress from Landy, but now im having a little panic!

sammy_girl, i thought that too - the dress looked terrible on that girl!! and i guess the fact that she didnt have a petticoat on didnt help - i wasnt going to bother with a petticoat, but think i defo will now!! i guess i will give it a go - at the end of the day if it arrives and looks rubbish i could just order the one i liked from Milly, which is just an ivory dress and therefore more likely to look decent, and just write the first one off!! can you return Landy dresses as long as you havent got them custom made? i would probably just get a size 12 - im a bit broad across the back so was planning on getting the lace up back so i could have a bit more space!

oh why do we do this to ourselves lol!!
  • I may be wrong but it's the custom made ones you CAN'T send back.
Check the measeurements they give for the stock sizes to make sure you order the right size - they may use American sizing!

    Good Luck!

so if i buy a normal, uncustomised size 12 i should be able to send it back? at least if i hated it i would get a refund!!

sorry point3 - hope nothing bad has happened to your computer!! :o

I tried to copy a bit from their Q&A page but it keeps disappearing!
They say they only accept returns on 'standard sizes' so I would assume that excludes 'custom made'.
They have a size chart on the dress page so I would get someone to measure you - carefully- and order the corresponding size, whatever it is (some brides have been shocked when shops have ordered their dresses 2 or 3 sizes bigger than they normally wear)!
  • that dress looks awful on that girl! it just looks a mess and cheap so that probably is a copy when you look at the buy it now price.

The original looks really nice :)

yay, definitely go for it, and whn you get it post a piccie for us nosy peeps lol!! If you ordered a standard size and you loved it, you could always wait until closer to the time to get it adjusted if it is too big. But that's the good thing about lace up corsets, they can give or take. I'm planning on letting mine out a bit after I've eaten all the food at my wedding lol

Lol, you'll love the petticoat when you put it on. I'm having one hoop with 3 or 4 layers. When else do you get to wear a petticoat lol

lol i love your other post - "The Lazy Brides Guide to Planning a Wedding". Might have to subscribe myself with the amount of online planning I'm doing lol :rotfl:
