Forum beginner needs help getting started

Hello,
This is my first of probably many posts. I am in quite bad debt approximately £35,000 plus I have a mortgage of approx. £75,000. Basically I have viewed the site and really like what I have seen, how supportive other members are and in general how good the advice is on the site. I really need some help getting started, below are some details.

After all out goings I have free to myself and family ( wife and 2 kids) - £86.00

Due to the job I do bankruptcy or IVA are not really an option as there is a high risk of me losing my job, I have looked into this and it is a possibility.

I would like to do some work from home but threr are so many scams I wouldn't know where to start, I am open to suggestions, survey sites etc. Even if the site pays in high street vouchers it would be a great help towards xmas. Anything to increase the £86.00.

I am really at my wits end and it is really getting me down, I feel like as the man of the house I am letting my family down and just would like a bit of help.

Is there any news regarding bank charges too, if we can reclaim them yet or not.

Any lastly what are piggy points (piggy bank club??)

I thank you in advance for any replys or advice.

Thanks again

    Hi debtfree,

You're probably better off posting on the debt free wanabee board than here but I'm sure there will be someome along soon to help you.Far more qualified than me for sure

  • Yes definately post on the Debt Free Wannabe board. They will help you no end and they will ask you to post up your SOA (statement of affairs) See the Sticky at the top of the page to help you with this.

Also have a look at some of the diaries and take some inspiration from them they are really motivating. One diary that springs to mind is Hypno06 as she also has alot of debt and brought it down massively as bankruptcy was not an option due to job also and her diary is so helpful in terms of how to earn extra etc etc etc .

And don't forget to subscribe to your post or you may not be able to find it when you return to it. You can do that by clicking on thread tools above your first post.

    Good luck
  • welcome to you debt free dreamer, and well done for making this first move. I have joined quidco and have used it for the first time to do my Tesco shop and hoping that that will build up over the weeks.

I wish all the luck that there is and will follow your progress with interest, you have taken the hardest step of all the first one.

I hadn't realised about subscribing to threads - thanks Keep Motivated!

Haven't got any advice other than what's mentioned above DebtFree, except to say you really can make a difference and the debt free board is very helpful!
  • Hi Debt-free

Hey you got the LBM action-smiley-033.gif- the Light bulb moment sport-smiley-001.gif

As others have said the Debt Free Wannabe Board has oodles of help and support. Try Old style thrift board and oh just browse around. An SOA is a statement of affairs you post it up and people will suggest where you could look for savings and economies.

What are piggy points these are from a site called Pigsback - I haven't got the hang of it yet it - that one boars me silly redface.gif.
