cheapest postage online for buying books

Options
Hi

Not sure if there is already a post for this or if I've posted in the right place - apologies as necessary!

I am looking to order books off the interent and wondered where the cheapest postage was. I'm not looking for ones that are doing short term special offers on their postage costs but ones that are the same all year round.

I don't order books on a regular basis so the Amazon super dooper postage thingy isn't right for me.

The books are anything whether novels or reference.

Thanks

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

Ruthibe, I use a wonderful book comparison site (although I have absolutely no connection to it other than using it myself) that compares books prices across all the major online sellers including: WHSmith, Amazon, Waterstones, Book Depository. It's like using pricerunner or kelkoo for electrical goods etc except it only looks for books! You can search for any book using author, title and/or ISBN and it shows you the selling price, P&P charges and then total. It also indicates stock and delivery time. The site is free to use and you don't have to sign up/register.

    https://www.bookbutler.com

Alternatively https://www.bookdepository.co.uk has free delivery and I think that's pretty permenant.

  • I second book depository, they are mega sellers on Amazons marketplace.

If you order from them direct on the website nenen has given they are cheaper than on amazon, great quality and arrive quickly !!

I use Play.com, postage is free, and they have a market place similar to the Amazon one. When you buy through Amazon market place you pay postage (£2.75 for books) and it's free with Play. BTW, if you buy from Book Depository on Amazon you pay postage.
  • I use http://www.bookkoob.co.uk as a book price comparison site. No connection to it. It also has a shopping basket where if you're buying several books it works out the cheapest overall place to buy them from. I think bookbutler does the same but haven't used it for ages.

For me, cheapest has always been amazon. Books on Amazon on average are much cheaper than anywhere else. And when it comes to delivery which is cheap in the first place on top of the saving you make on the actual book prices. And free if you have Amazon Prime.
