Can anyone remember programme called Holiday at Home?

Options
Hi

I wondered if anyone can help. I was talking to a friend the other day about a programme I once saw ages ago. It was all about holiday at home, spending the money you usually spent on going abroad, and using it by doing different activities at home!

Does anyone else remember this. Tried to search the internet but no joy.

I am wanting to do something special for my mum's 60th and think if I can track down ideas from this programme it would really help!

Thanks

Presented by Nicki Chapman - where the family handed over their holiday budget, got in a car and were driven round the block back to their own house...

Oh thank you for helping, thats the one.

Shame there isn't a link to details on the programmes. I was hoping I could get some ideas/inspirations!!

    Thanks for your help anyways.

  • I remember this. From memory they did things like:

    - arrange for someone to do some DIY or gardening at their home, whilst a car picked them up and whisked them to the theatre, or a zoo, or things like tennis or golf lessons

    - the general idea was whatever you would normally spend on holiday accommodation would instead be used on getting to and enjoying places of local interest. I'd suggest going onto the Visit Britain site (think it's called) and think like a tourist! Get some tourist information about your local area - think not only by car, but also where you could go by train.

    Best of luck.
