    B*gger, I wanted it to be raised to 160K so that the houses currently out of my reach at 170K would drop....

    ... These are interesting times, but I feel its just prolonging the inevitable.

    That's a bit how it read for me: "Government to force through all house sales at £175,000"
    The government estimates half of all property transactions will now be exempt from stamp duty - up from one third when the threshold was £125,000.

    But where the tax is charged it now starts at '£1750' doesn't it? More intelligence and less kicking the stable door is required in the longer term
