Inch wide Elastic woven or knitted?

I have made two pairs of elastic garters to hold up my sons rugby socks. Most boys seem to use insulating tape. So I have decided to make some pairs to sell for club funds. One pair I made was out of elastic which I had in the house. The other pair I paid £1.08 for a meter. I have seen elastic a lot cheaper on Ebay but it says 'Woven' not 'Knitted'. I have e-mailed the seller to ask what the differance is and the pros and cons of each as, I dont have a scooby, but it does not look like they are going to get back to me. Can anyone advise?

(Sorry,I dont stay near any material shops or I would have popped in and asked them!)

  • Knitted elastic is very stretchy, and very soft (like the elastic you get round the top of boxer shorts and pyjama trousers). Woven elastic is firmer and doesn't stretch as much, more like the elastic you get in knicker legs. I would think you would do better with woven for garters since it's less likely to stretch out eventually.

    Hope this helps.
