DCA chasing my daughter - aged 16!

Hi All,
basically, virgin active are chasing myself (not too bothered) and my daughter for a few months missed membership payments.
I wrote to them 3/4 months ago to ask them to freeze the membership as we were having financial difficulties due to a very personal matter,
They haven't done this and have continued to charge us every month.
Now I'm pretty sure that my DD didn't fill in the correct paperwork when she joined as they kept calling her to get her to re-do it (she never did).
My question is really - can they chase and default someone under 18?
Many thanks for all your replies in advance.

I think that the question should be more like - how did anyone give your daughter 'credit' at 16 years old?
As far as the dca is concerned - they probably don't give a damn aout the age of your daughter, and will probably think she is lying if she tells them she is only 16 years old.
It is, in my opinion, possible that the credit to which this 'debt' relates is less than legal, and probably unenforceable anyway.
Your best bet would be to check with National Debtline - 0808 808 4000, or CCCS - 0800 138 1111.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
