dca letter help

hi,

i wondered if anyone could help with my problem.

to cut a long story short, i got behind with my payments on my catalogue (j d williams) over the past 8 weeks i have written 4 letters to them, one to the catalogue company, three to the dca company, (reliable collections the catalogue own dca) offering payments of 30 pounds per month the first three were totally ignored so i wrote again this time enclosing a cheque for the £30 and sent it recorded del, they recieved it over three weeks ago i have proof of delivery and they cashed the cheque, but i never got a reply, today i have recieved another letter demanding full payment from another dca company regarding this. they have also placed a default on my credit file but i have never recieved a copy of this notice from anyone of the three companys.

im not sure quite what to do now i might mention i never signed any credit agreement either however this is my debt and i want to pay it but how can i come to any agreement when my letters are ignored i do not want to speak over the phone as i want proof of my accepted offer.

any help gratefully recieved.:A

If they are cashing your cheque and keeping the money, they are as good as accepting your offer. Just be sure to keep making those payments. Did you send your letters by recorded delivery or get proof of postage? Just wondered as it adds weight to your case.

I would ask them for a copy of their formal complaints procedure. Follow this to complain about their lack of response despite your earnest bid to resolve the issue. See what they come back with.

    thanks hopeful1,

i only sent the last one recorded delivery, but mentioned in the previous one to that that i knew they had recieved the letter as they had cashed the cheque within it.

That's plenty of supporting evidence then!!

At the end of the day, if they don't play ball, then you know you have the lack of credit agreement card ;) I'll look out for your posts to see how you get on.

    Best wishes
