I seem to remember reading somewhere on this site something about if you bought an item from Amazon and then it went down in price within a certain period of time (90 days???) then you could claim the difference or something.
Does anyone remember this? Could you point me in the right direction?

Apparently so , below is a quote from a email from Amazon someone received todayOnly orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy. As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase.0

I emailed them tonight about a DVD I ordered at the end of August which had come down in price a couple of pounds, this is what I got back:
Dear Customer,
Thanks for writing to us about the recent price change on ************* I recognise you have a choice of retailers and appreciate that you prefer to order from us. Please note that we do not extend a post-order price guarantee.
I've reviewed your order and see that the price change was significant and you just received this item from us. Under the circumstances, I'll make a one-time exception for you and issue a refund for the price difference in the amount of £*.**.
Please understand that I'm issuing this refund because of the exceptional circumstances, and I'm doing this for you against our standard policy.
****WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A PRICE GUARANTEE?****
While we don't always beat the best available price on every product, we do offer deep discounts on many thousands of items. From time to time, prices on some items will change due to special offers from suppliers and manufacturers or our inventory and sales volumes. When we can offer a lower price for new purchases we will, but we cannot extend these discounts to completed orders.
Thanks for shopping at Amazon.co.uk. We look forward to your next visit.
Please let us know if this e-mail answered your question:
Surely that's still a valid query as it was before September, and didn't require all of the above.
I really liked that policy and was the main reason I shopped with Amazon. They are bound to get many more returns as their prices go up and down so often.0 -
Same here it was nice to know if the price dropped within a short time of you buying it that they would offer the promise.0
