Letting Flat Option

I have been living in my flat for just over a year on a interest only residential mortgage with GMAC, I have just got a new job some distance away from the property and will have to move nearer to the post. My mortgage terms doesnt end until next march so I cant sell the property (there is a high redemption fee, in any case it would be difficult to sell) as far as I can see my only option I can see is to rent the property , What is the likelihood of my mortgage company allowing this, does anyone here have any experience of such a situation?
