What shall I wear to my creditors meeting?

My creditors meeting for my IVA is tomorrow... what should I wear? I don't want them to look at me and think that I have tons of money to spend on clothes, but at the same time I don't think jeans are sensible!? Silly question I know but I want to look like I'm taking it seriously.

  • I think smart/casual should be just about right, maybe not jeans but a pair of trousers and a top? Good luck by the way.

When my creditors meeting was due i was told by my insolvency practitioner that nobody usually goes and that I wasn't expected! I was glad not to have go actually as I think I would have been a quivering wreck! if you do go I would have said to be smart but casual - no jeans. Good luck I hope it goes well for you! ;)

  • I have never heard of the individual going to the meeting for the IVA. Normally the creditors vote by fax or post and do not attend in person. so it is a virtual meeting, commonly with the admisnistrator looking at all the votes to calculate is 75% by calue have agreed. I would telephone the IP and ask if any creditor will be attending the meeting in person, If no then dont go, telephone the IP about 2 hours after the meeting to find out the outcome. good luck...

Well I did attend, it was accepted with no modifications! Only about 50% in value of my creditors bothered voting and they all agreed to it, including egg who were my main creditor with about 1/3 of my total debt. I was told I didn't really have to go but i didn't want to be left hanging for a phone call and the guy who chaired the meeting was very helpful and I am completely happy with how things will proceed now, so I am glad I did. In 5 years time it will all be finished, which is something I could never have contemplated before. The only place I could have seen myself in 5 years prior to contacting payplan, was in still more debt and being hassled by creditors. So it's a big weight off my mind!

Thanks all for your replies, especially taplady who replied to my first post re: IVAs, it was much appreciated.
