Hi sent letters to creditors in full and final settlement after receiving some compensation money. This morning I received 2 letters from Cabot, one is a budget planner and the other is asking me to asking me to phone them. I do not know what to do as I am on incapacity, I have a 17 year old son I have had child tax credits and child benefit taken off me as he is going into higher education. There was no mention of them accepting the settlement offer. Advice please

Are you already on a DMP?
I would not phone cabot. They should respond to your letter if they are interested in the offer. If not, then that's their loss. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
As George has said do not phone them.
If they havent responded within a few weeks time it might be worth sending a second letter reitterating the full and final settlement and say that you only have the offer of this money for a short period of time.

I contacted cccs 3 years ago who advised me to apply for bankruptcy and advised me to contact my local CAB office. when I went to see someone at cab they told me to come back when I had a ccj, I`ve had hundreds of letters threatening ccjs but nothing happens. I thought I was doing the right thing by offering them this money as I am 58 will never work again and as anyone who has a 17 year old will know I could use this money to help him. I also regret contacting them because in July next year this debt would have been time barred.0
