New to the forum, find the site fantastic and full of usefull information.
I unfortunately declared myself bankrupt on 2nd June 2008. Difficult decision, but had no choice and once made I actually felt like a giant weight had been lifted.
Anyway, still have unanswered questions and actually finding the OR next to useless........
gave details of pay etc, to OR, have had notification of 0T tax code through, which came into effect in July, however - have had nothing to say where to pay this amount to? I believe it is supposed to be set up by direct debit?
I had a car on Hp which I was told would be repossessed - I understand this as I cannot afford to keep it, however, I have also heard nothing about this??? I get the occasional letter from the finance company but nothing else - the Or informed me that they would deal with this? and I should not speak to the finance company direct.
Also still getting debt chasing letters that were on my bankruptcy form?
Basically, I have emailed the OR but heard nothing????? I am loathed to phone them as the chap I was dealing with doesn't appear to understand basic finances? - he didn't realise the tax for 2008 tax year had gone up as the 10% rate was abolished????
I know that I do not have to make any extra payments towards my bankruptcy as I am on a very strict budget and have no excess for this.
Should I be contacting these people myself with details of my bankruptcy?
The thought of a bailif turning up on my doorstep fills me with dread?
Just realised this post is very long - so sorry - was just trying to cover everything.....
thank you for any advice

I believe it is supposed to be set up by direct debit? You just have to keep this extra to one side and wait for Clarke Willmot to contact you. They are extremely busy at the moment so it may be a while. Is your tax under £50 a month?

I get the occasional letter from the finance company but nothing else - the Or informed me that they would deal with this? and I should not speak to the finance company direct. Again it's just a case of waiting. The finance companies are notoriously slow at reacting to these things and can take months to do anything.
Also still getting debt chasing letters that were on my bankruptcy form? Again it takes some companies a while to get the message through to the right departments. Quite often the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. If you want to send a copy of your BO to them you can, send it recorded so you get a signature. Or ring them and give them your BR details. Also send copies of all letters from them to the OR.

I am loathed to phone them as the chap I was dealing with doesn't appear to understand basic finances? - he didn't realise the tax for 2008 tax year had gone up as the 10% rate was abolished???? The OR service are very stretched at the moment but if you feel you are not getting good service from them then get in touch with his Assistant OR and tell him your mis-givings. Sounds like you may have a new guy.

The thought of a bailif turning up on my doorstep fills me with dread? If someone comes then just chuck a copy of your BO order out of the window at them and tell them to go away as they have no rights.

Welcome to the board....
I went BR recently and yes I still get letters, so last week I copied my BR form and posted a copy to everyone. Just wrote my ref on the top. It will take a while.
I found Scottish Power worse as it has taken ages for them to get my pre pay meter to stop collecting the debt.
Any questions ask away I have found everyone here so helpful.BSC No: 186 There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Unless someone's nicked the candle !
