Where Can I Find Quality But Value Flooring

Sorry if wrong forum but parents wish to put down some bathroom laminate (wooden) and want something that is quite good quality like real wood or solid wood but due to the conwebs in my Dads wallet wish to spend as little as possible

Would appreciate any views or ideas where they could purchase something of good quality without breaking the bank. Anywhere with a promotion on as they love a bargain!!!

Thanks

been looking myself last few days. All the real wood ones I saw are marked not suitable for bathrooms and at 24.99 upwards a square metre don't come cheap.
floors to go and allied carpets both have offers on laminates at the moment, from 2.99 (ftg) and 3.99 (allied carpets)/sq m.
Also Ikea do a nice laminate at 3.99sqm

  • I would never put wood/laminate in a bathroom after 2-4 years the humidity and splashes will have ruined it like it did in my last house, always put tiles. (Makro do some solid wood floors though have seen it on offer in their magazines starting from £15 a sq m never seen it in the flesh though)

  • We put big ceramic tiles down in the bathroom, put them on top of plywood to make them removable without damaging the floor. Best thing we have ever done - no more smelly carpet! Was not cheap but do not expect to have to replace them.

Hi, we got an oak effect one from Wickes Fast Fix range. I know it is not solid wood but it does the job for us and looks quite nice down. You can go instore and have a look first, they charge more for delivery unless you spend over £400 (I think) but then it becomes free delivery, but you can go home, order it online and you can get free next day delivery if you spend over £45. They have some special offers on at the moment on their flooring.

This one is recommended for kitchens and bathrooms: http://www.wickes.co.uk/Laminate/Fast-Fix-Laminate-Flooring/invt/191171

Look through the website as there is other stuff in their sale but I bought this stuff for a rental property a couple of months back. Laminate is never ideal for a bathroom, but this stuff is the aqua backed laminate like the Wickes stuff above, but it's £6.75 a metre! I've seen it being sold in shops elsewhere for £15+ a metre so it's not a 'gimmicky' sale.

H has fitted quite a lot of laminate in his time and thought it was great for the price.
