My other half has just surprised me by booking a romantic holiday for us on 15th SEptember. I am sooo excited coz we've both been working really hard this year and I really thought we wouldn't fit a holiday in this year!
Just one problem.......I'm due my period right in the middle of the holiday! I really don't wnat this as I want to be able to enjoy a hassle free holiday.
I'm not on the pill or anything-does anyone know if there's anything I can get from the pharmacist/doctors to delay my period?

Or any of the contraceptive pills can be taken through the preceeding weeks and the week of the holiday0

I did take the pill right through two packets once when I was backpacking and didn't want the faff of having a period. I ended up with very sore breasts which I would guess wouldn't be ideal for a romantic weekend
just saying it might be worth thinking about and even taking some oil of evening primrose for a while before hand in case. 0 -
Hi
I took the Noresterone for our wedding last year with no problems.....however i also took it again earlier this year as i was due for my period whilst on our delayed honeymoon and can honestly say i will never take it again. I took the pill for 3 days before my due date as instructed on the information leaflet supplied with the pill. After the 2nd day i started to notice an unusual bloating in my stomach (by unusual i mean much larger than normal when due for my period), and breasts which had become over sensitive so much so that i couldnt bear them to be touched. I developed a rash all over my arms and chest and my ankles, knees, wrists face infact everywhere blew up like i'd gained a stone in a day. Whilst on holiday i spent most of the time with my legs elevated to relieve the pressure and could literally see the fluid move about in them. So i stopped taking the tablet and after a few days i went right back to normal. Unfortunately because of the reaction to the pill i spent the most of the holiday covered up unable to sunbathe due to the rash and felt like poo.
As soon as i stopped taking them after a few days i was able to enjoy the last couple of days thankfully.
In the future i wont even think about whether i'm due when away as taking the pills stopped me enjoying the holiday more than if i'd just got on with what nature dealt me.
I know everyone is different and everyone will react in their own way to the tablets and hope that should you decide to go to the gp's for them that they work for you. I just thought i'd share my experience of taking them with you so you can get a good idea of what to possibly expect if they dont
Plus you have to pay for the prescription too
Hope this helps
