Some BR advice please..

Bascially my OH has been out of work for 2 months now although he is looking for work furiously every day. We have only my income to live on now and we can't pay our debts let only just day to day living costs anymore.

My wages are only £1080 per month and our main expenses are:
Rent £850 pm
Bills (council tax/phone) £90 pm
Travel costs can vary between £60-£80 pm
and of course that doesn't take into account everything esle!!

We have unsecured debt of £12k

The only option we have available to us is to give up our rented accommodation which we can't afford without OH working anymore and move in with my parents rent free (who live in a non-EU country!) then my OH can continue looking for work in his field and I can find employment there too.

We were considering going BK but I read somewhere it would be rejected because of our situation with no income for OH?

Plus would be both have to petition individually for BK if we were able to?
We have a joint personal loan together?

I'm stressed because once we leave the country due to his unemployment situation we probably wont be able to keep up the high repayments in pounds :( and if we aren't BK before we go getting back to the UK to file for BK after OH and I are both working again will be really tricky and terribly expensive!

I hope this post isn't to confusing or long - sorry! I hope someone can give me some advice about BK for the unemployed??

    Hi,
First if there are two of you then housing benefit will cover approx half your rent in your circumstances. ( more rent will be covered if you have a child / children.

You would both have to petition if you both have debts or joint debts. You need to go to a debt charity as in my signiture for them to consider your personal circumstances.
