I wasn't sure where to post this but as DFW is my MSE home I'm putting it here. Feel free to move it mods-but not until after you've voted please !!
A very good friend of mine's teenage daughter in Newcastle was recently diagnosed with this devestating syndrome and has gone from being a healthy teenager to living with a lot of pain and a very restricted life. As it is a rare condition it's really hard to get funding for research and this is why the appeal below is so important. Please read and if you feel like it-please please vote
As many of you know my daughter suffers with the rare condition IIH...Over in America there is the 'Peoples project', a research funding oportunity provided by Amex. Cure Chronic Intracranial Hypertension is one of the worthy causes listed and they really could do with more votes. Voting ends in 2 days and we are currently in #27 spot. We did make it as high as #22 a couple of days ago but votes are few and far between right now so are dropping back down the table..
It is the top 25 projects that go through to the second round of voting. The funding up for grabs is a share to the top five projects of $2,500,000. If cure for IH is successful then the funding will go to the IHRF based in Vancouver, Washington. ( http://www.ihrfoundation.org/ ) They run a joint project with the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
IH is rare and affects about 1/100,000. Rarer still in children. Funding is hard to achieve because of the rarity of this condition so we really do hope that Cure Chronic IH makes it into the top 25 therefore having the chance to appear in the second round of voting.
