Anyone Make Their Own Fresh Orange Juice

Hello peeps
I've recently purchased a blender, no experience with kitchen gadgets but was wondering if I could make fresh orange juice with it?
We get through around 6 1ltr cartons a week, I noticed a pack of 5 oranges in Morrison's priced at £1.75 would it be worth making my own juice?

Not really, you only get a drop of juice out of an orange when you juuice it. Though if they are fresh, it will be nice and healthy. But you can use it for smoothies.
I use my blender for soups such as butternut squash.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Even if you buy expensive orange juice, it would probably work out even more expensive to get the same amount of juice from cheap whole oranges.
Orange juice lasts longer than the fruit itself (especially economy orange juice), so you pay a premium for the fruit. It's the same situation for veg too: frozen veg lasts a long time in the store, but fresh produce perishes.I have no signature.0 -
If you had your own orange tree then it would be a good idea. Unfortunately the oranges we get aren't juicing oranges, it's just not worth it.
I grew up in one of the best orange and peach growing towns in South America, would just sit on the kerb and eat the ones that were discarded from the packaging building. THOSE were worth juicing. Oh the good old days...
Anyway, Tesco make a delicious orange juice that ACTUALLY tastes like the real thing. It's the normal 100% Pure Orange Juice one (Smooth or With Bits). You can even add a bit of water to make it last a little longer. It's lovely.GC March Wk1 £28.72/£30 Wk2 £28.4/£29

I love freshly sqeezed orange juice and bought an old fashioned press but the amount of oranges I used to get half a glass was a joke.
Sometimes I treat myself to the Tesco juice that Melika describes. When we were in Florida earlier this year we asked for fresh orange juice but was told they cant provide it anymore and all orange juice has to be pasturised now!0 -
I make orange juice when there are oranges to use up - sometimes with grapefruit, as well. I've also had a dozen oranges for 20p from the market at closing time and juiced them. As others have said, too expensive to do regularly.0

Cheers everyone, what you all say makes sence, once again, thanks
