Hi How about having days where you forage for food. Stuff such as hazelnuts, elderberries, blackberries and mushrooms can all be found alonng footpaths and on waste land. A lot can be frozen too.
Do you eat meat? How about catching a few rabbits or hares?
I would also consider filling the family up with pasta, spuds and puds such as rice pudding.
Hope this helps.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
hi,500.00 on food is way too much, you need to stop impulse buys and just go for what you need, the old style board is brilliant, good luck0

Thank you Hypno06 for your help and not judging me the way Bismarck obviously did - much appreciated!
Wasn't meant to be judging - I'm not on here to do that. Casual is a word that scares me sometimes! It just concerned me that you didn't seem overly bothered about it.
Apologies that I came to the wrong conclusion. For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -
Thats ok Bismarck, perhaps I was being over sensitive!! I think Mo1 probably hit the nail on the head if I am honest. I work 5 days a week, whilst my husband works all the hours god sends, and sometimes I have over compensated - trying to be like Mary Poppins, keeping the house tidy, being a gr8 mum, taking the children camping (on my own so they get a break in the holidays) as well as feeding our extended family, the farm workers etc. I think it has become all to easy when I am tired to get a chinese etc. Its no excuse and I am more concerned that the children are picking up on my bad habits."I will be debtfree":p0

thank Lucifer - it's not easy sometimes....a takeaway does sound like a good idea more often than not and that's one of the things I miss now that we are trying to make every £ count!
I suspect that the children are actually picking up a lot of good habits and realising that parents are not Banks on Legs...ours are still working that one out and I'll let you know when they've got used to the idea.....although it might be a while....For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I did mention to my stepson this afternoon, that although he is always welcome and its his home as well, it may be helpful if perhaps he would turn up with a joint of meat or maybe a pudding or a token now and again!! I am trying to get the husband and kids used to the idea that we are only going to have a pudding in the evening now and not after lunch as well, but they are more than welcome to a piece of fruit should they need it mid afternoon. I feel like an ogre today. Have bought a lunchbox today and am going to start making packed lunches for me too."I will be debtfree":p0

Hey Lucifer,
Good luck with sorting out finances, its just your name that scares me!!! Although your last post makes me think your a lady. Saying that the devil can a sexual?0 -
Ha Chilli_dog... No last time I checked I am most definitely a woman!! It was a nickname my dad gave me as a little girl. Used to tell me he had to check my head for 666!! I nearly even had a devil tatoo in his memory after he died, but I am a wuss and thought it would hurt too much. Besides a horny little red devil may not look so good at 80!! And now I can't afford it - so its not meant to be.
I have got £75 out of my bank this afternoon, and after work tomorrow I am going to Asda to my weeks shop (normally do Tesco online and just flick through all my favourites). Fingers crossed I ca home with change too!!! Going to plan my menu for the week and do it on word so everyone knows whats on the menu this week and I don't have to think about it."I will be debtfree":p0
