  • Glad to see I wasn't the only one treating myself. We work hard and yes it's sometimes a struggle, but it doesn't mean we shouldn't enjoy ourselves A LITTLE :) every now and again. We're human the same as everyone else. Ihad a lovely day yesterday and hope you did too Savingholmes. I've got quite a bit of stuff sorted for ebay on Thursday so fingers crossed some of it will sell!! Thanks for the quidco suggestion for elec, will certainly look into it. I'm not having the best day today though. Off work with a sickness bug - I've literally been up all night so feeling very rough :( wanted to go into work for the afternoon since managed to be up and about now and can at least keep water down now but oh insists I stay at home otherwise could end up being off all week, and he's right I suppose. Also would hate the guilt feeling if my friends at work came down with it too!! Oh well, it does mean my first NSD of the month. Have a good day everyone xx

  • Just wanted to ket you all know, because I'm really proud of myself, that I have paid all of my debt dd's and paid an extra £80 onto my GE card, which is the highest interest, and in the process brought my dfd from June 2013 to April 2013 - yey!!! It felt so good to see that dfd change. I want to do it again :) But will be good. I'm going to wait to see what I have left just before I get paid again to make sure don't leave myself short. It did feel fantastic - my first overpayment :) Now I can see why you're all so driven - the feeling when you see those numbers change :) x

Wow thats a big change moving it forward two months. Well done!!!
Hope your feeling a little better.
  • I know, made me smile loads :) see, still going! Am much better thank you, and back at work today. Did well today, spent £3.40 at the post office and £20 on fuel and got nectar points on that. Took my own lunch to work rather than spending the £4 it would usually have been, and actually got a lot done which meant got to leave earlier than normal (work in a school so no set hours) so I'll be doing that most if not every day from now on. Also got a £30 gift voucher for helping out at a show at the weekend so will put that towards birthdays that are coming up shortly. Not a bad day all in all. Fngers crossed have a few more days like it! ope everyone is well xx

  • Well I haven't been on for a few of days as have been back to work and things have been crazy, plus we've been doing a lot of work on the house, but mainly it's because my computer decided it didn't want to play anymore. However a lovely friend of mine came round today and fixed it for me and so I can scribble on here about what I've done :)
In short, on Thursday I sent for the rest of my savings to use towards my highest interest credit card. Owe mum a little so once that's taken out will shove the rest on the card. Fingers crossed will be a big chunk of it. Don't actually know how much is in it so a nice suprise would be good :) I had a no spend day on thursday too :)
Friday, went and did the shopping which came to £14.65 for two and the tinned dog food we needed and put £20 fuel in the car. Also got a £30 gift voucher from my brother as he'd forgotten my birthday :)
Saturday we bought £35 of dry dog food as it was on offer so that should do us about 4 months, more if we're careful. We ate at parents so no food used up so shopping should last a little longer. Went to visit an aunt on a farm and got given a load of apples, eggs, tomatoes etc. It all helps!
Today, Sunday, we went out for lunch - £20 for two for a carvery and dessert and a pint each. Not going to sniff at that, plus it's all you can eat so we always eat loads there and that's our only meal for the day, and then we also take the scraps for the dogs. They love days we go there too :)
Well I think that's it in terms of a brief summary of what I've been up to. A few spends but not too bad and only on things we need. Dog food may seem extravagent but they need to eat and it will last ages and it was a good deal from a supplier we know. Would have been more expensive in the long run if we hadn't bought it then.
Hope everyone is well. I'm off to do some paperwork x

Your school sounds as manic as mine. I ended friday by running round putting plastic buckets under each of the drips in the dining hall, a listed building. Not sure how I'll be breaking that news to the head this morning. He already knows about the leaking windows in the main hall. Not a good start to the week. School cook is still off sick leaving us with the temp from hell. Deep fried chips in the deep fat frier? really? nooooo not when you can slart cheap cooking oil over them and do them early in the oven prior to leaving them in the hot cupbord to turn into unidentifiable dehydrated cardboard like things. Bleugh. Even the staff on playground duty (free lunches as a bravery award) won't eat it.

Teaching staff seem to be wandering round in a shell shocked daze and we're already working on Christmas concerts. Letters should have gone out last Friday about applying for high school places but we thought the council were being a bit premature and extremely efficient. Apparently not, deadline looms.

Congrats on knocking 2 months of your DFD date. We're having to replace the OHs car only 8 years old but at 180K and in need of a timing belt change and a few other bits which the garage are prediciting will top £2000, that and the chassis is rotting slowly. Oh the joys of car ownership.

  • Gosh that sounds awful Moo2Moo, hope your school gets that sorted quick. Hopefully you've enjoyed your first week back. Mines been hectic but great fun. Got a good class this year and am enjoying being with them. Bad luck on the car too. Sounds a lot like mine actually!

Not done much money saving wise for a few days I have to admit. Sill trying to keep spendin gdown, taking lunch to work with me, trying to avoid the shops. The OH did well on the shopping so was £48 but should do us a fortnight I hope, and got some freebies in the post. Hopefully I'll have some excess at the end of the month and can make another overpayment but don't want to yet as I don't want to risk leaving myself short.
Have filled my change jar (was doing that before I started on this site, so am looking forward to counting that later. Whatever is in there will be going onto my highest interest credit card too. Hope I can bring the DFD forward again (crosses fingers) I love that feeling. Just seem to be struggling keeping momentum up at the minute. Have to get my enthusiasm back, just not sure where Ileft it. I know need to do this, just rediscovering the drive that's the problem! x
