I did this when I got my Xbox 360 back in Jan last year. I just ordered a xbox starter kit off of eBay (The big black box with the xbox headset in it) for £20. On the Xbox Live website they were stating at the time the xbox Live memberships were being transfered over to Gold membership on the Xbox 360. If I remember right I just called xbox Live and gave them the activation code from the card in the box and they set it up for me, 12 months Gold membership.

I gave the same advise to another user on the xbox forums at the end of last year and he said it worked then too. The problem you might have is finding the old 12 month starter kits these days. If you do find one cheap you can call the xbox live team and confirm if they are still doing the transfers over the phone.

has any1 got a months free trial i could ave as my mate got an xbox360 yesterday an wanna try online but i aint got any free trial codes as ive thrown mine away as i get a yearly sub if any1 has could they please pm it 2 me

I can refer you to a company that gives codes via email, theres no charge but it does require you to fill out surveys and such like!


If you get a utility like roboform and put all your personal info in that, you can just autofill alot of the questions

When you get a new xbox 360 and set up a new user account you get 1 month free trial anyway, so your friend can try it for free.

they bought it off a mate but did 4get they give u a free month when u sign up 4 a new user account

As far as I can remember each XBOX can do 5 "free" months from new usernames.
DS2 has done this when he was skint and saving up for a gold membership:rolleyes:. It gave him a chance to try out even weirder usernames:D.
