Error on credit file from old bankruptcy - advice please!

Hi - hoping someone out there can help me with some advice please.
In 2002 I declared myself bankrupt as I was being held responsible for a debt in joint names accrued by my ex-husband. In terms of peace of mind, it was the best thing I ever did. I managed to get a basic bank account and when I was discharged in 2005 it was converted to a standard current account. With the help of this and a Vanquis credit card, which I always pay off in full, I have spent the last 3 years re-building my reputation and credit rating, mostly very successfully.
At the time of going bankrupt I had a few loans, overdraft, etc, which were all included in he bankruptcy order, and therefore defaulted at that point. Given that when accounts default they stay on your credit file for 6 years, I had been looking forward to this year when the defaulted accounts would be removed and I would be back on course with a clean reputation again.
This has, indeed, been the case with all my accounts except one, which is causing me a problem. The account is a loan I had with Welcome Finance and the defaulted balance is £2729. However, on checking my file they didn't report the account as being in default and closed until June 2004, despite being included in the bankruptcy order in May 2002. This means that it will stay on my file for another 2 years.
I wrote to Welcome, pointing out that I couldn't possibly have had credit of £2729 during the period 2002-2004 as this was against the conditions of my bankruptcy, and asked them to amend their error and report the correct default date on the account, but they wrote back (eventually) saying that the information was correct and they were unable to change it.
Is there anything I can do to put this right, or do I just hve to wait another 2 years for it to be removed? I've worked so hard to get my reputation back on track and I feel that they're being deliberately obstructuve.
Any advice that anyone can pass my way would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

That is utter rubbish from Welcome.
They have a legal duty to amend the default date so that it is no later than the date of your bankruptcy order.
