Haven't yet decided whether i'm going to go through the hassle of trying to order it from the states (nearly half price) or try and get the shop sample, or even just give in and pay £700 but I need to decide soon.
Gorgeous dress!
I think you may find it difficult to get a Maggie Sottero from the US now though hun as they stopped exporting them ages ago to the UK.
The only way you can get a Maggie from the US now is if you know someone who lives in the US that you can get it delivered to and then they can send it on to you via normal international post. One day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170 -
Hi Sammy,
The dress is Alfred Angelo (number 1134 on the website) I can't remember the exact price but was around £700 - not tried any haggling yet - have people done this much in bridal shops? I would have no problem if it was from a large chain in trying to negotiate a reduced price but not so sure in a small privatley owned shop - is that just me being a wimp??!
I'm glad you said its not the 'usual' style bride have, thats one reason i like it so much - i wanted something a little different but not 'weird'!! lol.0 -
Claire, you don't ask, you don't get. I got offered over £400 off a dress (Still more than my budget though!) and that was with barely any effort... If you umm and ah over it and then tell them your budget is a bit less... Or the shop down the road has thrown in shoes etc... You're bound to get something...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

All the dresses are so beautiful, I wish I could find a picture of my dress, it's being sold by the Wedding Palace in Barnsley and is black and ivory. I can't wait to get it home, I'm paying a little off at a time, still need to save up for the wedding day etc but will get there!!!:A :

Hi Claire :hello:
I would definitely haggle! I'm not usually the haggling type and a bit shy about it, but hey it's a lot of money so go for it lol!
I was torn between 2 dresses in 2 different shops - Dress 1 from a large shop, Dress 2 from a small family boutique. Dress 1 was offered at the ticketed sale price of £650. Dress 2 was not yet in the sale and had a ticketed price of £999. As I ummed and ahhed over the dress, the lady (who owns the shop) said that she was going to put it in the sale and could offer it to me for £600 and quoted the alterations as £100. I ummed and ahhed some more and casually dropped in how lovely the other dress was and how it only needed the hem taking up, so she offered me dress 2 at £500 and then the alterations, dry cleaning, hoop hire, and a new ribbon to tie up the corset, all for £100, so £600 in total. Told her I would think about it. The next day I went back to large shop to try on dress 1 again. Ummed and ahhed and told her the quote from the other shop and all the "extras", and she went away to talk to her manager and came back and said that she could drop dress to £550 (an extra £100) off and the alterations would be £50. So both dresses cam in at £600 complete.
I went with the small family boutique as they were far more intimate and you didn't feel like a bride on a conveyor belt before the next one comes along lol. Plus they can be a lot more flexible about price, extras, adjustments etc. The larger shops always have to "check with a manager".
It's worth noting that these are sample dresses, and generally the reason that they're on sale is that they are discontinuing that style and so are probably more likely to offer a discount than if you bought a fresh one which tend to have fixed prices.
Sorry for the ramble. get haggling and let us know how you get on0 -

Skintchick that is an absolutely beautiful dress.
I wish I had your figure you lucky thing! A dress like that would never have looked anywhere near as good as that on me cos I'm far too curvy. One day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170 -
