CABOT Financial Services

Hi All, hope someone can help me...

I have recently changed my mortgage provider but I had a LOT of problems in doing so because my credit file looks bad, I had a credit card with Monument some time back and all of a sudden I stopped getting statements from them, when I made contact with them they couldn't find my account so in my stupidity a presumed they had wiped my credit and I just decided to forget about it, unfortunately they had not forgotten about it (the final balance was £800) and it appears that it has been bought by CABOT and I now owe them £1400!!!! I have tried several times to contact Cabot asking for a final balance and why they have added so much more and asking for the paperwork which shows that they are legally enitled to ask me for this money but they just do not reply to me, I did receive a eply to my first ever email when they asked for my current address and tel number but nothing since....I NEED to clean up my credit file but just don't know what else to do....any help would be greatly appreciated....sorry for the LONG post :-D

Thanks

Sam

    Hi Sam,

How old is this debt? It might be worth looking to see if the debt is enforceable. There are loads of threads about CCA requests, if you follow these through to the letter you might not have to worry about this debt. (if that is possible)

I'm sure some others will be along soon to help more than i can.

    Good luck tho :-)

There are two options depending how old this debt is.

if it is still showing on your credit record, it is probably less then 6 years old, but if it is older, then you can use the Statute of Limitiations.

if it is more recent, legally Cabot have 12 working days plus 2 days to produce a response to a CCA request, which includes a statement of the outstandig amount.

if they fail to do this they are in default.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
