I'm new to this website, but love it. I've started to think that my firends and work colleagues are getting fed up of me talking about mecca that is Primark and saving money, so having a site like this where people are in the same position and can share tips is great. Me and a likeminded friend email each other day with tips and support and it really helps. The only debt I have (apart from a mortgage) is a credit card and even though my debt isn't that huge I hate having it and can't wait until I've paid it off. When me and my boyfriend bought our flat last year I really started to take money seriously and completely changed my ways. I give myself a budget each week, I even started to write down everything I spent over the month and was shocked to discover that the 30ps I spent at work on cups of tea turned into £30 a month and it was interesting to see where my money went. I now take lunch to work every day and some days don't even open my purse. I'm learning that you don't have to buy the expensive brands to get a good product (although some things you just have to.) It's been an enlightening experience and I just wanna help everyone, but I try not to force my views on people too much or want to come across that I'm a cheap skate who never buys a round or won't spend, just that I'm saving and being careful so I can afford to move to a house instead of a flat and am realising that by being careful and saving on things that I wasted money on before I can afford what I want and will debt free hopefully next year while I have friends who are heavily in debt and still live at home cos they can't afford to move out.

Hello! Welcome to MSE!
You will find lots of friendly, likeminded people here who will love to share tips with you.0 -
I'm already finding that. Why did I not know about this forum before ?!?!?! I don't have to bore my friends who don't wanna listen anymore. They might love their debt but I don't love mine. Any tips to help will be gratefully received.0

Unfortunately (or should that be fortunatelySupersaver wrote:Any tips to help will be gratefully received.
) I've never been in debt, so I don't have mush advice here.
I can give you a few tips on this site though - things which took me a while to discover, to help you get off to a good start.- Threads with an open envelope have new posts you haven't read ->
(although they will all be marked read after a while) - If you click on "Quick Links" at the top and then "My Profile" then you will see an option to find "all posts by this user". I use this when I start up MSE to see if anyone has replied to a thread I have been posting on (you can tell if there are posts you haven't read by the envelope picture)
- "New Posts" at the top is what I use to see the latest posts so that I can reply to them (this is how I discovered your thread. I do this after looking in the forums which generally interest me first (eg. Techie, Student...)
- The "Thanks" button at the bottom of other peoples' posts is an easy way to say "thanks"! Clicking this will increase the user's thanked post cound under their name (I also look at the "find thanked posts" page from My Profile to keep an eye on which of my posts have been thanked
) - sra's AtoZ guide is a good place to ckeak out for other advice: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=35717
I may think of more soon!0 - Threads with an open envelope have new posts you haven't read ->

Sounds like a cheap skate to me!
Only kidding.
Dunno about Primark being a mecca but this place certainly is! There is an absolute wealth of knowledge and experience that sometimes money can't buy! (but you don't wanna pay for it coz thats not very money saving!
