2. PARTICIPANTS
2.1 All participants must be registered subscribers to the Canon You Connect newsletter and must be aged 18 or over at the time of submitting the Competition entry (the“Entry”). Participants must be a resident of any of the following countries:
• Austria
• Belgium
• Denmark
• Finland
• France
• Germany
• Italy
• Netherlands
• Norway
• Portugal
• Spain
• Sweden
• Switzerland
• United Kingdom

Persons affiliated with Canon, including but not limited to Canon staff and their family members, are not permitted to enter the Competition. Any such Entry will be disqualified.
2.2 Only one Entry per person may be submitted. Each submitted Entry becomes the property of Canon and will not be returned. In the event that Canon acknowledges that more than one Entry has been submitted by the same person, Canon shall have the right to disqualify those Entries.
2.3 By submitting an Entry, all participants are deemed to have agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions.
3. HOW TO ENTER THE COMPETITION
3.1 To enter the Competition, all participants must answer one question correctly and finish the slogan, available at www.canon-europe.com/youconnect and submit the Entry.
3.2 No purchase or entry fee is required.
3.3 All Entries must be received in or after [1st July 2008] and no later than [30th September 2008].
3.4 Canon reserves the right to disqualify incomplete or illegible Entries, or Entries sent after the closing date specified in clause 3.3 above.
4. ALLOCATION OF THE PRIZE
4.1 An Independent jury will judge the Entries. The decision of the jury is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
4.2 The Prize will be awarded to the participant who correctly answers the question and provides the most original sentence.
5. PRIZE
5.1 The Prize is a Digital IXUS 85 IS (1 prize in total). Approximate value of the Digital IXUS is GBP 228. The Prize offered by Canon cannot be changed or modified in any way.
5.2 The Prize is not transferable and no cash alternative is available.
5.3 The winner must accept the Prize within 5 working days from the date of notification by sending an e-mail with his/her acceptance at the Canon e-mail address indicated in the notification –e-mail sent by Canon. Upon acceptance thereof, the Prize will be sent by courier to the winner within [10 working days] as from the date of acceptance, and winner will be immediately bound by any specific terms and conditions of such Prize, as further specified in clause 5.7.
5.4 If the winner fails to accept the Prize, such Prize will be granted to the next best Entry in the Competition.
5.5 In the event that the Prize offered is unavailable due to circumstances beyond Canon’s control, Canon reserves the right to offer alternative a Prize of equal or greater value.
5.6 Canon reserves the right to void the Competition at any time and change these Terms and Conditions without prior notice, if this is necessitated by unforeseen circumstances beyond Canon’s reasonable control.
5.7 The payment of any taxes applicable to the prize will be exclusively the responsibility of the winners.
6. NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS
6.1 Winners will be contacted by Canon by email.
6.2 Winners will be notified within 10 working days after the end date of the Competition, set forth in Clause 3.3.
6.3 By entering the Competition, all participants expressly agree that Canon reserves the right to publish the name and country of the winner. Answers provided by the participants other than the winners will not be publicised. If the winner does not wish such details to be published, he/she must inform Canon at time of acceptance of the Prize.
6.4 The Prize winner will be available as from [31st October 2008] after the end date of the Competition by sending an e-mail to [EMAIL="new.media@canon-europe.com"]new.media@canon-europe.com[/EMAIL].
7. DISCLAIMERS
7.1 Canon shall not be liable for any direct or indirect losses, damages or injuries of any nature howsoever caused, sustained by any participant under this Competition, insofar as permitted by law. However, nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall have the effect of excluding or restricting Canon's liability for personal injury or death, or caused by gross negligence of wilful intent by Canon.
7.2 Canon shall not be liable for any failure to fulfill this offer where such failure is caused by any supervening circumstances amounting to force majeure. Such circumstances shall include, but shall not be limited to, severe weather conditions, fire, flood, war, earthquake, riots, industrial dispute, terrorism, acts of God, or events that, without the fault of either party, render performance impossible or incapable of satisfactory execution.
7.3 Canon accepts no responsibility for any Entries sent after the closing date as set out in Clause 3.3.
