remortgage with beacon/solent

as you guys have been so helpfull in the past just wondered if anyone can help with a couple of questions about my mortgage application.

the remortgage is being packaged by solent but when i sent the last couple of bits of paperwork i was asked to send them to beacon homeloans but then recieved an email from my broker to say solent had recieved everything.
how did solent recieve it when i sent it to beacon?
i had to pay for another valuation but as i was reluctant to pay for another one my broker said my application has been looked at and everything is fine and its just really now subject to valuation.
she didnt seem very convinceing to be honest and just wondered how likely it was.
the way i understood it everything would be packaged by solent the valuation done and then everything sent on to beacon for them to underwrite.
have i got it all wrong??
i am totally confused!!
p.s had valuation done on tuesday how long till we here anything?
