Should I complain ?

Hello again all,

After many weeks, I am remortgaged - almost :D

The conveyancer who works for new mortgage bank called me and said I am getting about £3000 cheque and asks if FirstPlus settlement figure is OK. I did not have a copy of settlement figure, and think maybe it is PPI refund so I am very happy to receive a rebate :j :money: :j

Now FirstPlus say I have not paid in full. I am not unhappy to pay as the money is theirs and I have funds , but am unhappy that conveyancer cannot do basic maths . But conveyancer does not work for me - shall I write to her to detail error she has made and complain ? I feel this is very bad that she made such a mistake as she was told exact figures of payments made  and I have been charged extra for getting funds via telegraphic transfer, which is now waste of cash  .

I will be in contact as I need to sort out paying FirstPlus, what thoughts do you have on this ? Maybe I will wait till it is all over then complain ? I am confused (and easily so :D) :o:confused::o

I'm not sure that the conveyancer has made an error.

She would have been given settlement figures and would have dispersed the funds based on those figures. Any amount left over would be paid to you. If firstplus are now asking for more, then what you should really be querying is the settlement figure that was given to the conveyancer and if this was the amount paid. First Plus can give this to you as can the conveyancer. Then you will have a much better idea who is at fault, if indeed there is one.

  • Hello and thank you for replying. It is the conveyancer who admits she made a mistake "dont know how that happened". So I have lost out on Telegraphic transfer fee, about £30 additional interest has been charged but lucky for me, with much begging, firstplus waived the £60 part payment fee.

Im thinking to write her a polite letter saying I am £60 out of pocket and would like a cheque for this and copy to nationwide - still don't know if I can

If she has admitted an error, then its only fair that she pays the extra costs that were incurred because of that error. A letter to that effect is what you should be doing.
