Storage heaters - disposal/other uses

Just wondered if anyone knew whether there were organisations which might appreciate (fully functioning) storage heaters or their component parts?
I have listed them on both freecycle and gumtree, but after having no fewer than 6 separate people arrange to come pick them up and then not turn up (after my waiting in each time) , I have pretty much resigned myself to sending them to landfill.
Just thought I'd do a quick check on here to see if anyone had any other, more ecologically friendly, ideas?
Cheers

When we got rid of 4 storage heaters my OH opened them up and used the bricks inside to line a path in our garden. We then gave the remaining metal, etc. to the scrap man (so it was eventually recycled).

The local council's recycling centers take all kinds of electrical equipment which are recycled. I have dumped things TVs, music systems in the past. Check your local councils website to find your nearest recycling center0
