  • Don't have one but it can only be used once per year per restaurant so you can't use it several times in your favourite restaurants. If you could I would definately get one and use it at Mezbaan and Chop Chop several times per year. :-) Also a lot of my favourite places are not on the list (Bonsai, The Dogs, David Bann's, Kampong Ah Lee, etc) as it only covers a small percentage of the restaurants in Edinburgh. > http://www.list.co.uk/card/#Edinburgh

But if you eat out quite often at the places on the list (or want to try several of them) then it could be worthwhile. They often have it for £25 instead of £35 if you buy it on the day at food festivals etc.

On the List website it is offering a student offer of the book for £20 instead of £35. Has anyone got this and if so does it say anything about being a student on it? I'm not a student but wouldn't mind paying £20, just worried that if I did purchase it, I wouldn't be able to use it without an NSU card.

Are you signed up - or thinking of signing up - for an OU course....? Mebbe that'll count? Otherwise, I hope you're a good blagger! (Meant in nicest possible way - I'm a fairly mean blagger myself... :D )

  • I bought a list card just over a month ago on the £20 student offer. I haven't been a student for a few years, but I just put in a bogus student number (I have a friend who is a phd student - so I just copied the format for edinburgh uni which is 7 numbers with the first 2 signifying when you started studying, so it looks something like 0734100). It went through OK, and I have never been asked for any other student ID - it doesn't even say "student" on the card itself, so restaurants don't know to ask either! ;) Have already got my money back on the card and the best thing is that 2 of the 3 places I've been to didn't even cross their number off - so I can go again! Although sadly Mezbaan did, but Iglu and the Olive Branch didn't! Yum - looking forward to working my way through the rest of the list!
