Bit of a nightmare Boots shop today - but managed to salvage it

Went to the new one in York on Coney Street - first time since it opened and wasn't impressed, they've got lots of the counters in it which it never had in the old one but I found the aisles were very close together just like the old one and not a huge product range, and no clearance bargains that I could see. However it does have SS tills which I've never tried in Boots before. 1st transaction razor blades which I needed, pack of sanctuary wipes and a charcoal mask with till spit. Used self scan tills but put advantage card in the wrong way round so man had to come and help :o Got new vouchers and found 1p in the change pot too ;)

Then went and did a pub mystery shop I had to get done by 2 so couldn't hang around. Went back into boots afterwards, picked up 2 NO7 suncare, GWP, 2 spray mitchums and a drink and chocolate bar and stupidly went to SS, mitchums wouldn't scan - SA tried for ages, ended up having to get No7 vouchers back out of machine for me (had used 1 pinkie and 1 SS voucher but luckily got them both back) and I went to real till. Meanwhile a lady on a mobility scooter nearly knocked down a display trying to maneuver around till queue  and whilst girl on till typed in the mitchum numbers for me, she'd only take 1 No7 voucher (although she did take the crumpled till spit one I wombled the other day and type the number in;)).

Got outside and realised I should have said I didn't want No7 or done it as 2 transactions to get 2 sets of till spits so went back in and went to the perfume counter where the team manager happened to be and got her to refund the £7 I'd spent on the no7 to my card - she even gave me a pinkie back (took my points back) but I expected that. Was going to go round again and do No7 stuff at SS but saw her over by tills talking to the lads who were supervising the SS so chickened out put things down and went to some other shops. Did find a black/brown lash extensions in the little boots by the jorvik centre, SA was very nice but wouldn't take my 250 extra points voucher but wasn't in the mood for arguing.

Had a little while before OH was coming to collect me (was at a rehearsal all afternoon hence the time to shop!) so popped back to big Boots and got 2 NO7 suncare and GWP on SS tills for £2 (managed to use a pinkie and a SS spit) a different SA supervising and went through no problems - got another 1p too.

Phew - sorry for rambling but was a stressful day - did womble 2 of each of the spits from the SS tills, one from the bagging area and the rest from the bins under the tills, bending down and grabbing a few bits of paper each time - a couple of receipts but some spits too. Pleased with what I got in the end (only came to £10 and half of that was my razor blades which I needed now) and the bonus till spits helped make the stress worthwhile (thanks ScorpioKitten for giving me the courage to try it and find some in the bins ;)). Now have 7 No7 vouchers and 5 skincare to use - a trip to the retail park calls this week I think.

Oh and hello to the lady who was in Coney street today doing several trips round the SS tills and doing a far better job of it than me - she was at Monks cross the other week doing mitchums, lynx and lots of other glitches so she must at least read this thread

Attention West of Scotland bootsers/Glasgow bootsers who want to travel - the Ayr store has loads of H&B mags and a healthy collection of TS products - including the serum. It also had loads of extremely narky customers (including DS and sis :o ) and slightly tetchy SAs because it was like a sauna!!! So I didn't push my luck.

No JK nailfiles; plenty of TD wipes and (from what I could see) all other TD products; Lynx sets aplenty and a teensy clearance section which had the odd thing which was good for making your shop up to £5.00 (err on the side of caution, because things seem to be even further reduced than the label says - I got caught out in my calculations [sob]).

I'll have to post my shops tomorrow, time permitting, as the bags are in my bedroom, and DH is on early shift tomorrow  . My usual mix of 'Yah dancer!' and 'Where the hell did I go wrong?!'/'How could I be so stupid?!!' :o

Oh, and my sister now understands what I meant when I said "We're going to Boots - that's a verb by the way...!!" :rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Im going to have to get back to those who have pm'd me in the morning. My little lady is teething and just wont settle.
