Early Redemption fee RBS

I'm moving house and am leaving RBS early to goto a better mortgage deal. The problem I have is that they are now trying to hit me with massive fees.I understand you have to pay 2% early redemption fee but they're hitting me with a net interest to anticipated redemption date fee and a sealing fee aswell totalling nearly £450.
Surely they cant do this.I spoke to my dad and he says i should go into my local bank and kick up a big fuss and threaten to leave and join another bank, which I'm tempted to do anyway as I've had enough of paying £6 for a bank account anyway.
Any ideas as to what I should do????

Personally I would get out my mortgage documents and go through them with a fine tooth comb to see what if anything was stated when you originally took out the mortgage. Then I would ring your original provider again and ask if they have a Customer Retention or Cancellations team, most do nowadays. You may be able to negotiate with them.
Let us know how you get on. Good luck. The smallest deed is greater than the grandest intention ~ Anonymous0 -
Not sure about the actual redemption fee, however RBS are also guilty of having hiked their sealing fee over the past 2 years.
There is a thread that lisyloo posted which shows what she did when appealing against the same fee with A&L - I'll try and find and add to the post here.
EDIT: here is the thread:
